Screams Before Silence – Sexual Violence in Conflict
In observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, celebrated every June 19, Sisterspeak237 was honored to participate in the screening of the documentary film “Screams Before Silence” in 2024. The event was hosted by Mrs. Smadar Kalmar, spouse to the Israeli ambassador to Cameroon.
The film screening was followed by a demonstration of self-defense methods that women can use to protect themselves if attacked or abused. These skills are particularly crucial for women living in conflict zones, such as the regions of armed conflict in Cameroon.
The documentary film is a powerful way for survivors to support & embolden other women, especially those in war-torn areas who face the threat of sexual violence being used as a weapon of war.
Sisterspeak237’s involvement in this event underscores our commitment to ending all forms of violence against women and empowering women to defend themselves.
Today, let’s all take concrete steps to uphold the human dignity & safety of women in conflict zones.
