Going back to school after childbirth is often a challenge for both young and older women.
For younger women in school, pregnancy often means dismissal from school. Others are stigmatized at home making it difficult for them to go back to school.
In 2022, Cameroon’s Minister of Secondary Education, Dr. Nalova Lyonga signed a press release instructing school administrators to let pregnant girls continue school till 26 weeks of pregnancy when they will be placed on maternity leave.
