Sisterspeak Amplify – Shero Nakinti Besumbu Nofuru
Let’s “orange the world” today with Nakinti Besumbu Nofuru, a shero in the fight against gender-based violence and the rescue of women.
Nakinti is the Founder and CEO of Rescue Women – Cameroon, a women-led organization working to provide women and girls with opportunities to succeed, grow and thrive as leaders through holistic education and socio-economic empowerment programs.
During the #16DaysOfActivismAgainstGenderBasedViolence, we encourage individuals to raise their voices and seek help. This is precisely what Nakinti has been tirelessly doing through her organization. She understands that speaking up is not always easy, but she has fearlessly shared her own experiences of gender-based violence and consistently advocated for others.
Most recently, Nakinti lent her unwavering voice to support a young protege of hers who had been sexually exploited by a clergy member in Kumba, Cameroon. Beyond simply exposing this injustice on social media, she took bold action by reporting the incident to the appropriate authorities in Kumba, seeking justice for her daughter.
Join us in celebrating Nakinti and her achievements during these 16 days of activism. She is a force to reckon with, inspiring us all to recognize that only through speaking up can we uncover and confront the deeply rooted issues of gender-based violence. Let us hope that her unwavering dedication and courage will inspire other women and men alike to break the silence and stand against GBV.
Together, we can create a world where everyone can live free from violence and discrimination.
